MV vs DLS Friday 10/21/11  
 
Conditions: Beautiful warm October evening
 
Captains: Stanton and Lockie
 
MV kept DLS starters in for all 4 quarters by outscoring DLS in the 2nd half and forcing more punts. But first the first quarter…….
 
DLS and MV each scored on their first possessions- MV with 3 back to back 1st downs and a nice play by Zamora topped of f with Lockie to Melin TD followed by Redd PAT. 7-7. Quick DLS TD with a kickoff runback and score. 7-14. The MV possession ends in an interception and DLS score 7-21. MV regrouped with a team meeting but next possession ends in a blocked punt and TD by DLS score 7-28. End of 1st Quarter. 
 
MV kept at it and the defense stepped up. The 2nd quarter was a punt battle with 3 by McFarland and 1 by DLS. The first possession in the 2nd Quarter ended in a 40 yard punt but with an interception by Zamora the opportunity for offense again ended with another 40 yard punt with the run back tackled by punter McFarland. MV defense forced DLS for their first punt of the game. MV offense battled but ended the first half with another McFarland punt. 7-35 End of 1st Half.
 
Halftime presentations by Cheer, POM and MV Marching Band. 
 
MV offense started the 2nd Half out right by moving the ball down field. Wexler recovered a fumble and Troy Johnson brought it in for the TD followed by Redd PAT. 14-35. Squibb kick off and defense by Shirreffs and Briz and monster tackle by Stanton 20 yards behind line of scrimmage brought DLS to punt. MV offense also forced to punt with Wexler putting pressure on QB wanting the sack. DLS punts again. MV offense steps in and moves the ball with Lockie connecting again and again with Scritchfield and Chang. End of 3rd Qtr. 
 
Following Lockie sack, McFarland punts to the 2 yard line, DLS touches ball and Mustangs drop on it. Melin takes it in for TD.   21-35 DLS faces defense of Helu, Chabolla, Watkin but scores. 21-42. MV responds with the kick off return jumble play, Melin covers the yards but DLS recovers tipped pass. ……
