CAPTAINS:  Scritchfield, Lockie, Wexler, Johnson
CONDITIONS:  Cool, dry, still night at Chabot College

The Mustangs practiced through the week of Thanksgiving and arrived prepared to take the field supported by a good-sized away game crowd.  Special teams made the difference between the teams as the Pirates were unable to make PATs and FGs and had short punts.  MV made it through the first half with errors and a  defensive battle leading  MV 7-6 score but the second half “they are going to say”  would be a running game finishing 28-12 Mustangs.

MV received the kick off return by Zamora with a quick fumble and recovery.  In the first offensive series MV continued to struggle as another fumble turned the ball over.  On defense the announcer called it “encroachment” and defensive plays by Turner and Landman were not enough to stop the Pirates first TD.  0-6

The second offensive series ended in a McFarland punt followed by a Pirates punt.  In the third offensive series Johnson had a pass, Lockie scrambled but a tip led to an interception.  Back to defense.   Fourth offensive series and a Chang, Chang, Chang series but a missed Field Goal opportunity left MV still looking at the scoreboard.  Defense held the Pirates and a 12 yard punt by their special teams put MV it a good field position.  A great Scritchfield pass and Chang runs and we will call it a TD and PAT to put MV ahead for the rest of the game.   On defense Avery, Stanton, Melin, Landman and Yi held the Pirates to a FG attempt that they are going to say it sailed wide.  End of 1st half 7-6.

MV came out on defense with Melin interception and run back 20 yards and Lockie turning to Melin and Chang to score.  14-6.  The next defensive series was all Millner ending in a poor Pirates punt that set up the Melin, Chang, Lockie combo on the next TD and PAT 21-6.   A quick response by the Pirates and a defense hole brings it to 21-12 but the onside attempt was recovered by MV and a missed FG.  The final offensive series looks simple as a Chang, Chang, Chang, Chang, Chang, Melin, Melin, Chang, Chang, Chang, Chang TD.   28-12.  The final play on defense ended with a Landman tackle and MV heads back on the bus to prep for SRV game next Saturday night.
