JV-Mustangs Move the Ball, But Fall to Livermore 26-15

October 14, 2011 LHS Field: The JV Mustangs moved the ball consistently through the air and had there best rushing performance of the season, but came up short on several deep drives, including a bizarre non-first down call at the Livermore 4 yd line in the fourth quarter (not even close zebras!). While the defense improved from recent outings, the Livermore rushing attack got the better of the Mustangs with several break-away TD runs.

However, there were a number of good stops for the defense, and stout play in turning back three Cowboy PAT attempts. Tackles for loss by Ryan Chen and Cody Dalton helped stop two Livermore drives.

The offense showed up a strong new power running game, with heavy packages blowing the Livermore defense off the line and Rydian Searls tearing off big gains. Nikita Zamora found his favorite target, John Kaiser for an exciting 90 yard bomb in the first half, that set up a brief Mustang lead of 15-14 in the second quarter. Particularly impressive was a game ending long drive with time running out, with Zamora and Ben Wensley working the sidelines on deep outs that had a distinctly varsity “air” to them.

There were a lot of good plays both on offense and defense to build on, so lets go win the next one Mustangs!
