Frosh take on Cal

RB Scott Shirreffs made a 1st down on a fake punt.
QB John Hooper connected with WR Cameron Bothwell for 25 yards.
TE Eric Dobberphul made a 9 yard TD reception.
RB Kyle Henry scrambled for 35 yards, followed by his 3 yard TD plunge.
Shirreffs, Hancock and Pate team up to sack the California QB
 RB Kyle Henry took the opening kick off to the MV 33 yard line.
On their 1st drive, QB John Hooper completed a pass to WR Peter Stanton up the middle for 16 yards to near midfield.
After the drive stalled and MV was forced to punt, DB Jack Tanner made a fabulous open field tackle on the Grizzlies punt returner on their own 20 yard line.
DL Jason Riegel was not fooled on a pitch-back and tackled the Cal runner for a 5 yard loss.
DB Alexander Brown chased down chased down a Cal running back streaking up the side line in what otherwise would have been a TD.
On MV's 2nd drive, with Joseph Jennison, Tanner Hibberd, Grant Martin, Russel Milin, and Jack Kundred blocking up front, Hooper connected with TE Eric Dobberphul for 10 yards, followed by a spectacular one handed catch by Dobberphul, dragging 5 grizzlies down the field for a 20 yard gain.
RB Zach Cribb run up the middle for 10 yards.
Hooper passed to Tyler Watson on the Cal 9 yard line, followed by a pass to Dobberphul for a TD.
After a personal foal, Chase Redd connected the extra point from 20 yards.
Hooper passed to Watson on the flat, with a great block by WR Dominic Turchet for a nice gain.
The ball was hiked to RB Scott Shirreffs on a fake punt and he took it up the middle for a 1st down.
Hooper connected with WR Cameron Bothwell up the middle for 25 yards.
Jennison and Hibberd made the stop after an interception.
Brown brought down Cal's huge TE on a pass play.
With MV  on their own 2 yard line Hooper connected with Turchet up the middle for 28 yards.
Russel Milan had a nice kick off return to the MV 39 Yard line.
Stanton made a reception on the left side on the Cal 14 yard line, but the Mustangs could not get it in the end zone and turned the ball over on downs.
Jennison and DL Ryan Hancock made a stop for a 2 yard loss.
TE Savan Nock-Salgado made a reception for 9 yards.
Henry scrambled for 38 yards to the Cal 3 yard line, followed by his run up the gut for a TD.
DB Michael Anderson saved a TD by knocking the Cal kick off receiver out of bounds.
LB Sam Christensen made a nice stop.
 
5th Quarter:
 DB Michael Broxton and DL Chase Nicholson both mad nice tackles.
Austen Walker dropped the California RB for a loss, followed by Walker harassing the Cal QB into throwing an interception.
DL David Rajeski was not fooled on a reverse and mad a tackle for a loss.
RB Victor Chase ran left for 12 yards.
RB Jesse Wenger ran right for 17 yards
On the final play QB Ryan Moscow, scrambling in trouble, lateraled to OL Dylan Dalton, who lateraled to TE Ryan Jeffries.
